What is the Master Registrar Certification Course?
The Master Registrar Certification course is comprised of a small group of local registrars and deputies from around the state. The course provides them with a deeper understanding of vital registration and issuance through the statutory framework of vital statistics, best practices and working collaboratively with the processes at the federal, state and local level.

Download the Master Registrar Application form (20k PDF) and fax it to VSU, attention to Susanna Sparkman 512-458-7538. The deadline for receiving applications will be listed on the form. The registration forms will be reviewed and 15 applicants will be selected to attend the course.

The certification training will also include lecture, discussion, observation/tours ( model vital statistics state and local offices ) and making a presentation on a registration topic to be assigned on site.
Enrollment is limited and competitive. Current AOP certification, attendance at a Vital Statistics conference, and a minimum of two years working in a vital registration office are pre-requisites for admission.
The training course will occur at a training space at the Department of State Health Services in Austin. There will be homework assignments, as well as site visits to area local registration offices. There is no charge for the training. Participants or their employers are responsible for all travel expenses.
