The Department of State Health Services – Vital Statistics Unit (VSU) would like to invite all local registrars to participate in our Master Registrar Certification course.

The Master Registrar Certification course is comprised of a small group of local registrars and deputies from around the state.  The course provides them with a deeper understanding of vital registration and issuance through the discussion of statutes relating to vital statistics, sharing best practices, and working collaboratively to identify solutions to common problems.

In an informal setting, the course encompasses all aspects of the local registrar’s duties:

  • Statutes and Codes relevant to vital records
  • Review of specific topics regarding vital records registration and issuance
  • Group projects
  • Vital Statistics Unit Tour
  • Peer networking

. . . and many other educational experiences and materials to assist the local registrar with their daily duties!

To apply, please fill out the application by January 27, 2017. Please email the registration form to Gaetan Carpentier (gaetan.carpentier@dshs.texas.gov) and Shannon Nagy (shannon.nagy@dshs.texas.gov).  VSU will review the registration forms and will notify by email applicants selected to attend the course.

Hotel information will be posted soon.  Please check back for details.
