Is the Challenge ‘Right’ For You?
Adjusting the Challenge to Fit Your Agency

Making slight changes to the Challenge to suit your agency is always an option, especially if it will ensure success. We have some "tested" options to the design of the Challenge that may prove useful to your worksite.

Change . . .

The Structure

  • If agency-wide is too big a project for your first challenge try conducting it on a smaller scale such as a single office or division and plan for expansion later.
  • Reduce or eliminate the registration cost to fit your employees’ needs, but just remember this may affect the types of incentives you can offer.

The Time

  • Starting later to give your agency the time it needs is always okay.

The Teams

  • Try a smaller team structure, i.e., ten (10) members or less per team. However, remember that a minimum of five (5) team members is required.
  • Let team membership cross over agency divisions and offices. You can also include employees’ families!

The Incentives

  • Low on money? - switch to intrinsic (internal or feel good) incentives such as recognition in your agency newsletter, bulletin boards, a better parking space, etc.
  • Not sure on what incentives to give? Do a quick employee survey and select incentives from the answers given.

E-Challenge or Paper Challenge

  • If computer use is limited, use paper or hard copies of resources and tracking documents. Just print out the resources and make copies for distribution.
Use interoffice-mail and/or FAX for data collection and communication.
  • Go totally electronic for convenience and to save on cost. Use E-mail attachments, electronic bulletin boards and/or intra-office web pages for registration, communication, and data collection.
