Texas WIC: World Breastfeeding Month 2009

Breastmilk, every ounce counts

The 2009 World Breastfeeding Month (WBM) theme for Texas is: Breastmilk: Every Ounce Counts.

The 2009 theme for World Breastfeeding Month coincides with the breastfeeding awareness media campaign, Breastmilk: Every Ounce Counts.

The campaign is set to kickoff in August. The launch will include two radio commercials, four television commercials, and three outdoor public service announcements in select areas. The campaign has also developed a new breastfeeding awareness website, www.breastmilkcounts.com.

The WBM materials offer breastfeeding support to moms and families during pregnancy, early infancy, and throughout the entire breastfeeding relationship. Some of the WBM material have been redesigned and are available to encourage employers to make breastfeeding families feel welcome in their place of business. WIC staff can use all of these items to help encourage breastfeeding initiation and success. Help everyone in your clinic and your community understand Every Ounce Counts.
