The Comfortable Latch: A Guide to Successful Breastfeeding

This instructional audiovisual introduces pregnant and breastfeeding women to the technique of chin-led (assymetrical) latch and nipple self-assessment. It also covers infant hunger and satiety cues and how to tell if the breastfed baby is getting enough to eat. Available in English (11 minutes) and Spanish 12 minutes) in DVD or VHS format. 2006

 

A Mother’s Gift

This motivational audiovisual features the same families as in To Baby With Love: Overcoming Breastfeeding Barriers but focuses on the emotional benefits of breastfeeding.  The moms encourage others to “give it a try.”  Available in English (13 minutes) and Spanish 13 minutes) in DVD or VHS format. 2004

 

To Baby With Love: Overcoming Breastfeeding Barriers

This is a very powerful documentary style audiovisual in which breastfeeding mothers discuss common breastfeeding barriers and how they overcame them.  Barriers covered include pain, milk supply concerns, lack of support from family and friends, breastfeeding in public, and certain cultural barriers to breastfeeding.  Includes a wonderful ethnic mix and age-range of mothers.  Beautiful emotional endings to both English and Spanish versions. Available in English (15 minutes) and Spanish (15 minutes) in DVD or VHS format. 2004

 

A Mother’s Guide to Breastfeeding

Covers some common concerns about breastfeeding such as how to avoid sore nipples, how to discreetly breastfeed in public, family support, and who to call for help.  Available in English (15 minutes) and Spanish (17 minutes) in VHS format only.  2000

Real mothers tell why they decided to breastfeed, what’s been easy, a few things that are not so easy, and how they’ve dealt with those.  Topics include; it doesn’t have to hurt, formula is not just as good as breastmilk, breastfeeding doesn’t have to tie a mother down, and dads can bond with their breastfed babies too.  Available in English (16 minutes) and Spanish (16 minutes) in VHS format only.  1999

Mommy’s Milk for Mommy’s Baby

A video designed for children ages 2–5 years old. It shows how breastfeeding is the natural way for mothers to feed babies. Lizzy — a young girl — learns that mammals get food from their mommies. The video shows footage of various animals nursing their young. Available in English (4 minutes) and Spanish (4 minutes) in VHS format only. 1992
