Breastfeeding Training
Nutrition/ Breastfeeding Conference

Sponsored by

The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Texas Association of Local WIC Directors (TALWD)

Objectives

  • To increase health-care providers' knowledge of the need to promote and support breastfeeding
  • To increase health-care providers' knowledge of breastfeeding management
  • To promote consistency of information given to breastfeeding mothers
  • To encourage the adoption of policies that promote and support breastfeeding
  • To encourage communities to work together to promote and support breastfeeding

These courses are designed to prepare health-care providers to appropriately and adequately support breastfeeding women and their infants. The material is presented at a level to fill the gaps in professional education. DSHS believes that a positive, proactive approach to breastfeeding promotion and support can only be achieved through team effort. Thus, all levels of health-care workers directly affecting breastfeeding women and their infants are encouraged to attend.
