2005-2006 Season Summary
The flu activity level for the week ending April 15, 2006 remains sporadic. Limited flu activity was reported in all 11 regions of the state. Flu activity across the state is greatly reduced
Reports were received from all 11 Health Service Regions (HSRs) for week 15. Only HSR 1 reported an increase in flu activity. Activity remained about the same in HSR 8. A decrease in flu activity was reported in HSRs 2/3, 4/5N, 6/5S, 7, 9/10, and 11. For a map of Health Service Regions, please visit the following website:

During week 15, culture confirmed influenza A was identified in Harris County (majority identified was influenza B).
Culture confirmed influenza B was identified in Bell, Brazos, and Harris Counties during week 15.
No institutional outbreaks or school closures were reported.

Data from the Sentinel Provider Surveillance Network (SPSN) shows the level of influenza-like illness (ILI) has decreased from the previous week.
