Preventive Medicine Year 2

Kate DuPuis, MD, MPH

Medical School: Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA

Internship: West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh, PA

Professional Interests: LGBT medicine, transgender and gender affirming health care, HIV, addiction medicine, and data science

Recent Activities: Provided patient care services at Operation Lone Star, a public health emergency exercise which provides free basic health services to community members of the Rio Grande Valley.


Michelle Ha, MD, MPH

Medical School: University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine in Chicago, IL

Internship: Internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL

Professional Interests: Medical toxicology, hospital-acquired infections, infection control and quality improvement, vector-borne and zoonotic diseases, STD surveillance, and HIV

Recent Activities: Conducted analysis of Acute Occupational Disinfectant-related Poisonings in Texas from 2006-2015 with the DSHS Environmental Surveillance and Toxicology Branch.

Prema Murali Duraisami, MD

Internship: Anesthesiology at Detroit Medical Center, Wayne State University in Detroit, MI

Professional Interests: Clinical preventive care, STD prevention

Recent Activities: Screened refugees for major health issues in the Austin/Travis County area; evaluated patients for latent and active tuberculosis.


Terata Kanu, MD, MPH, MBA

Medical School: Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN

Internship: Internal medicine at University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH

Professional Interests: Health disparities, social determinants of health, health policy, healthcare finance, global health, and occupational medicine

Recent Activities: Provided patient care services at Operation Lone Star, a public health emergency exercise which provides free basic health services to community members of the Rio Grande Valley. Finishing MPH with a specialization in Health Policy and Management from UC Berkeley School of Public Health.
