In October 2012,
the Texas Council on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders (Council)
members unanimously voted to rename all funded Alzheimer’s disease efforts
under their purview to the “Darrell K Royal Texas Alzheimer's Initiative.” This
initiative is committed to fostering excellence in research through the
legislatively mandated Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium (TARCC); addressing the burden of Alzheimer’s disease in Texas through
statewide strategic planning; promoting collaborative research projects among
Texas Alzheimer’s researchers, and coordinating/supporting other state funded
activities as they relate to Alzheimer’s disease.
