Welcome to the home page of the The Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers. The Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers (a Texas state board created by the Athletic Trainers Act) is the licensing and regulatory authority of athletic trainers in Texas. The board implements the provisions of Chapter 451, Texas Occupations Code (the Athletic Trainers Act), which was effective September 1, 1971. The board's purpose is to protect public health, safety, and welfare by establishing and enforcing qualifications and standards of practice for licensed athletic trainers.

New Rules

The Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers has adopted changes to the licensure rules, and those changes became effective on December 15, 2014.  You may download a copy of the new rules, and information about the rule changes, by selecting this link

The Jurisprudence Exam is required when applying for a new license starting January 1, 2010.

Beginning January 1, 2010, applications postmarked on or after January 1, 2010 must complete the board's jurisprudence examination and submit proof of completion.
