NOTICE: After the fourth reporting period (Jan1-May31 2015), there have been no further requirements for birthing centers to submit the Texas Birthing Center Data Report Form. If we need to collect data on this form in the future, we will contact all Texas licensed birthing centers with updated information.


Background

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has designated the Center for Health Statistics to collect data from birthing centers during the 2014-2015 biennium.

Rider 94 of the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Appropriation Bill was passed during the 83rd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature. This rider requires DSHS to collect aggregate data from all licensed birthing centers in Texas. Data are only required to be collected for each year of the current biennium. A letter was mailed in August 2013 to all birthing centers licensed in Texas, explaining the reporting requirements and the calendar periods for reporting aggregate data, along with a preliminary form to acquaint providers with the details of the expected format. Reporting Guidelines

The following table lists the due date for each reporting period. All Texas state-licensed birthing centers need to provide their reports no later than this date:
