Oral Health Improvement Program

The Oral Health Improvement Program (OHIP) at the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) encourages Texas residents to improve and maintain good oral health.

The OHIP works with various partners across the State to identify the oral health needs of Texans and the resources to meet those needs.

Our Vision-Our vision is a healthy Texas, where all individuals enjoy the benefits of good oral health as an integral part of overall health.

Our Mission -Promoting oral health through leadership in public health practices, policy development, education, and population based preventive services.

The program's regional dental teams are based in El Paso, Lubbock, Tyler, Houston, and San Antonio. The dental public health professionals in these teams provide preventive dental services to eligible low-income, underserved, pre-school, and school-aged children who are Texas residents.
