Highest Risk Counties (3-year average rate* of tuberculosis greater than 2 times higher than the average for Texas)

Use of a questionnaire to screen school children at school entry should be a joint decision of the local or regional health department and the school district as resources allow. Children with positive responses to questions about risk factors should be evaluated for tuberculosis infection with a tuberculin skin test and receive appropriate treatment if indicated.
