Trauma Systems Committee:

  • 2013 EMS Summary Report for Trauma-only records produced and published on the website.
  • Motor vehicle traffic is the leading cause of injury for persons <1 and from 5 to 54 years of age based on EMS records submitted to the registry.
  • Firearm-related injuries were the 10th leading cause of injury based on EMS records submitted to the registry.
  • Median total Prehospital time for the top five mechanisms of injury were less than 40 minutes (from EMS dispatched to patient drop-off at destination).

  • 42% of active license EMS agencies reported data to the EMS/Trauma Registry.
  • Total records submitted to the registry was 2,463,340 as of April 22, 2014.
  • Among EMS agencies that reported data to the registry, 89% were E-911 capable.
  • Among EMS agencies that did not report data to the registry, 51% were E-911 capable

  • As of February 2, 2014, less than 50% of EMS agencies reported data to the EMS/Trauma Registry for 2013. The previous two years (2011 and 2012) reporting percentage was approximately 53%.
  • The EMS/Trauma Registry has received 2.5, 2.4, and 2.1 million records for reporting years 2011, 2012, and 2013, respectively.
  • Approximately two-thirds of EMS agencies that did not report to the EMS/Trauma Registry are classified with a response type of “Transfers Only.”
  • Counts and percentages of agencies reporting/not reporting to the EMS/Trauma Registry are identified at the State and RAC-level.
  • Response type for agencies not submitting records to the EMS/Trauma Registry are identified at the State and RAC-level.
  • More than 50,000 records in 2011 were reported in affidavits but were not submitted to the EMS/Trauma Registry.
  • More than 80,000 records in 2012 were reported in affidavits but were not submitted to the EMS/Trauma Registry.
