The Texas Department of State Health Services collects, analyzes and reports data relating to the use of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in the state. In addition, an annual report summarizing this data is submitted to the Governor and members of the Texas Legislature.
State laws require that Texas hospitals administering ECT provide information to the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on a quarterly basis. This data includes the number of patients receiving treatments and the type of equipment used. The information is maintained by the Office of the Behavioral Health Medical Director.
The Texas Administrative Code contains the rules pertaining to electroconvulsive therapy in Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 405, Subchapter E.
These documents are referenced in Title 25, Part 1, Chapter 405, Subchapter E.
Please note that the version of Exhibit C provided below has been revised since the document was added to the Texas Administrative Code and is current and the version that should be used if necessary.
