Advisory Committee Nominations
The Commissioner of DSHS requests your assistance in identifying applicants for membership on Medical Radiologic Technologist Advisory Committee. It is anticipated that the committee will meet once during the next twelve months.
The positions requiring appointment are for four consumers, one medical radiologic technologist whose primary practice is in diagnostic radiography, one licensed physician who has experience in radiologic procedures and who practices in a rural community or at a site serving a medically underserved population in Texas as defined in the Medical Practice Act, Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 152, one licensed medical physicist or a hospital administrator, and one registered nurse or certified physician assistant who has experience in radiologic procedures and who practices in a rural community or at a site serving a medically underserved population in Texas as defined in the Medical Practice Act, Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 152. The terms of these positions are staggered for up to six years. A list of the current membership is also enclosed.
We are currently authorized to reimburse only consumer members of the Medical Radiologic Technologist Advisory Committee for allowable travel expenses while on committee business. Non-consumer members will be responsible for their own travel-related expenses, including transportation, meals, and lodging.
Draft Rule Language for Public Comment
The Department of State Health Services is requesting feedback on the draft rule language that is available via the following link. The draft language will remove all language referencing the Medical Radiologic Technologist Advisory Committee. By rule, this committee’s abolishment date was November 1, 2012, and the new language will conform the rules to the actual operation of the program. The draft language will also implement Senate Bill 162 and House Bill 2254 of the 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, regarding the licensing of active military members, military spouses, and military veterans. The Medical Radiologic Technologists section is available starting on page 34. Comments on the draft may be submitted via email to Crystal Beard, Program Director, at email@example.com. When emailing comments, please indicate “Comments on Medical Radiologic Technologists Draft Rules” in the subject line.
