2015 Training Workshops
The work of dedicated cancer reporters like you makes it possible for researchers to determine cancer incidence in populations, identify health disparities, and so much more. To support your commitment to the field of cancer registry, the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) will offer basic trainings, advanced workshops, specialized trainings, and software trainings. Dates and locations will be posted as they become available. Please use the training request form to request training that is not posted here.
2015 Basic Training Webinar Series by TCR Staff
The 2015 Basic Training is an introduction to the fundamentals of cancer abstracting with a focus on the Texas Cancer Registry Handbook and Web Plus data fields. If you do not abstract cancer cases full time, are new to the field, or want to brush up on the basics, this training is designed for you.
Each Basic Training Session is limited to just 25 participants, so it will be offered on a first come, first serve basis. Please write to TCR.Training@dshs.state.tx.us if you are interested in attending a Basic Training.
2015 Intermediate/Advanced Cancer Reporting Training
The Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) is proudly sponsoring the 2015 Statewide Training to be conducted by A. Fritz and Associates, LLC. The 2015 Statewide Training is for Intermediate to Advanced level reporters who are ready to deepen their abstracting and coding skills and bring their new knowledge back to their colleagues.
As in previous years, participation in each workshop is limited to 35 participants. Facilities may register more than one person but only one person may be designated as the primary attendee with others to be placed on a waitlist and notified of available space. All workshops are two days in length and last from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (CST). Please see the training agenda.
