Texas Health Care Information Collection (THCIC)

Attention THCIC Stakeholders, Health Data Researchers and Healthcare Facilities,

In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency requirements THCIC staff will have limited access to providing responses and data requests.

DSHS/THCIC is waiving the requirements for data collection, correction and certification as required under  until June 30, 2020. The waiver allows for all healthcare facilities required to submit data to DSHS under 25 TAC Sections 421.1-421.9, 421.61-421.69 and 421.71-421.79 to reduce the burden on staff for the submission, correction and certification of the facility’s data as required by Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 108. The waiver would not prohibit those healthcare facilities from submitting, correcting and certifying their data on a voluntary basis on the current schedule, due to the importance of this data for addressing similar issues in the future.

THCIC was created by the 74th Texas Legislature in 1995. THCIC's charge is to collect data and report on health care activity in hospitals and health maintenance organizations operating in Texas. The goal is to provide information that will enable consumers to have an impact on the cost and quality of health care in Texas.
