Information needed to register births in the state of Texas is confidential. Birth Registrars must adhere to strict confidentiality measures to ensure that the information they place on the birth record is kept confidential.
In an effort to assist each Birth Registrar with understanding the importance of confidentiality, the state Vital Statistics Unit requires all Birth Registrars to sign a confidentiality statement.
Each Birth Registrar is required to sign the confidentiality statement and keep it available, either electronically or physically, during facility inspections by state vital statistics representatives.
