WIC Nutrition Course Registration

  • Privacy Statement

    • Submit a separate form for each person attending. If you have several people going to one or more classes, please email Missy Hammer the list of staff and the class they would like to attend. Please include their credentials, email, and if they need a vegetarian meal or have any food allergies.

    • You must attend every session in order to get continuing education credit or a certificate of attendance for the course. Please be mindful of the start and ending times and make arrangements to be present for the entire class. Due to the continuing education requirements, if you arrive more than 15 minutes after the first session has begun or leave early for any reason, you will not be awarded partial credit and you will not be allowed to make up any missed sessions.

    • Payment: The registration fee is due three weeks prior to class. If payment is not received at least 10 days prior to the class, you will be cancelled from the class and any subsequent classes without further notice. Instructions on where to mail payment will be included in the confirmation email or refer to General Information.
      • Principles of Lactation Management - $60
      • Lactation Counseling and Problem Solving - $30
      • Clinical Lactation Practicum - $60
      • Peer Counselor Trainer Workshop - $60

    • Refunds for cancellation will be made up to 10 days prior to class. After that date, no refunds will be made.

    • If you fail to notify the registrar in writing of your intent to cancel at least 10 days prior to the class start date or you do not show up for your scheduled class, you will still be held responsible for the registration fee.

    • Nursing Mothers: A room will be provided if you need to pump during this time. Please bring a pump, attachments, and a small cooler with frozen “blue ice” packs to keep your expressed milk cold.

    Principles of Lactation Management


    Lactation Counseling and Problem Solving

    Pre-requisite: Principles of Lactation Management no more than three years prior to class date or be an IBCLC.

    Have you taken or are you registered for Principles of Lactation Management?


    Peer Counselor Trainer Workshop

    This class is for Texas WIC staff only and is intended for staff who will be implementing or managing a Peer Counselor Program. Attendees will need to bring a laptop with Windows 2007 or higher and PowerPoint. Hospitals interested in starting their own Peer Counselor Program should contact Kristina Arrieta for more information.
