2004 - 2005 Texas Influenza Surveillance Information
The weekly flu activity level for CDC week 12 ending 3/29/05 is now Local.
This represents a downgraded status since last week.
Reports were received for all eleven regions.
Flu activity has continued a steep decline this week.
No regions reported increased activity over last week.
No regions reported the same levels of activity as last week.
All eleven regions reported continued decreases in flu activity this week.
Data from the Sentinel Provider Surveillance Network (SPSN) indicates another week of declining ILI activity, although levels are still slightly above the baseline level. This is the fifth consecutive week of ILI decreases.
There were no reports of school closures. A single institutional outbreak was reported in the Central Texas area (HSR 7).

Culture confirmed flu has been identified in low numbers across the state, with very low specimen levels at the DSHS lab this week.
Counties with culture confirmed flu include Dallas, Harris, Bexar, Kerr, Ector, Wichita, Travis, San Patricio, Webb, Mitchell, Collin, Parker, Lubbock, Cherokee, and Montgomery.
