Health Service Region 1 is one of eleven health service regions of the Department of State Health Services, the  state governmental agency responsible for bringing comprehensive public health services to the citizens of Texas. Health Service Region 1 serves a 41-county area in the Panhandle and South Plains.

Health Service Region 1 – Mission Statement

Our mission is to support the residents of West Texas as we work to improve the health of our communities by:

• providing public health consultation, education, promotion, prevention, treatment, and regulation,
• utilizing public resources efficiently, effectively, and responsibly to achieve defined public health outcomes.
