Welcome to the Texas Department of State Health Services Region 8. We provide public health services in twenty-eight counties of south central Texas. Region 8 borders the Rio Grande River and Mexico on the west and the Gulf Coast in the east. Region 8 is geographically diverse and includes rolling hills and plains, hill country, coastal plains, brush country and desert. We have a combined population of 3 million with 1.7 million people living in Bexar County.
