Mission
To improve the health and well-being of Texas families by increasing access to health care through community collaboration, with a focus on prevention.
Purpose
The Family and Community Health Services encompass multiple programs directed toward the health and wellbeing of women and children. Services provided in the Region 8 field offices (12) located in Bandera, Boerne, Del Rio, Floresville, Goliad, Hallettsville, Karnes, Kerrville, Pearsall, Seguin, Uvalde include:
Population based services (health education, community collaboration and partnerships, health promotion and prevention)
Spinal screening and training
Family planning referral
Child health screening referral
Perinatal hepatitis B training to hospitals
Nutrition counseling
Vision and hearing testing
Immunizations
Social service referrals
Case management services
Contract management (quality assurance, technical assistance and contract management to regional contractors of Title V, X, XX, Primary Health Care, Epilepsy, Population based programs and family planning)
