To protect consumers from contaminants, disease or other health hazards transmissible or found in fish and shellfish.
To accomplish our mission, we will:
- Classify molluscan shellfish (i.e., oysters, clams, and mussels) growing areas.
- Certify molluscan shellfish shippers and crab meat processors.
- Approve importation of processed crab meat.
- Test fish, shellfish, and aquatic life tissue samples from public waters of Texas.
