During week 50, culture confirmed flu was identified in Bell, Bexar, Brazos, Dallas, Harris, McLennan, Travis, and Val Verde counties. The DSHS lab confirmed (by culture) 16 influenza A/H3N2. Four additional specimens were identified as influenza A but have not been subtyped. The majority of specimens received by the DSHS lab were in individuals age 5-24. As of yet, no influenza B has been isolated. Scott and White Laboratory in Temple confirmed 26 influenza A from Bell, Brazos, and McLennan counties. The majority of these were in children.
